Testing

PSAT

The Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is designed to prepare high school students considering college for the SAT exam.  The PSAT/NMSQT measures Reading, Writing, Language, and Mathematics skills which are important for college success.

Juniors who sit for the PSAT are entered into scholarship competitions administered by the National Merit Scholarship Program and additional scholarship providers.

For more information about PSAT testing dates visit the SHS guidance web page.

PreACT

Taking the PreACT is a good way to prepare for the ACT admissions test, which is accepted at most colleges and universities. The PreACT lets students know academic strengths and how well they’re prepared for colleges they may be interested in attending. By becoming familiar with the math, English, reading, and science sections of the PreACT students typically score higher on the ACT.

The PreACT is offered at Seneca Valley in the spring of each school year. Information will be posted HERE as it becomes available. For sample questions or more information go to ACT Academy

ASVAB

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is an aptitude test administered in the Fall for students in grades 10-12. The ASVAB assists students with career exploration goals. For more information about testing dates and to register visit the SHS guidance webpage.

Advanced Placement (AP)

AP Exams are administered in conjunction with the completion of Advanced Placement courses. Students who choose to sit for an exam may be able to earn college credit based on their score and the AP policy followed by their chosen school. Students enrolled in AP courses will be notified by their classroom teacher of specific exam registration deadlines.

For more information regarding AP exams visit the SHS guidance webpage.
